Managed to catch a chunk of the work at Sonica 2024 on its very last day as I returned to Glasgow. Always impressed with the programmes Cryptic put together, I loved the work displayed in The Lighthouse and it was heartbreaking seeing how underutilised that huge space is the rest of the time, and how badly it’s falling apart. Give me my cute tiny escalators back, I’m begging!

I really enjoyed Dan Taberski’s podcast Hysterical, there’s a lot to analyse here with regards to our discomfort towards verifying the reality of things which are primarily perceived. I don’t know if that makes sense, I need to listen to it again and write notes this time.

I’ve no idea what music I’ve listened to all summer, but it’s obviously nothing worth talking about. I watched The Boys S04 the moment my MA was done and it was fine; I haven’t watched any other TV and the only films I’ve watched were the ones I powered through on flights: Quiet Place Day One and Deadpool & Wolverine, watchable films that you can’t recommend.

I plan to keep writing as much as I can, and to keep sending you emails. I’ll probably shift to Substack at some point, because that’s easier for everyone, but I first have to get over my own embarrassment at being a substack writer.
